ISNR event training

·      Preparing for the Event day 29/30 March
The first day I met the volunteer team was couple of days before the event and there where almost a 100 volunteers in the auditorium which we got the briefing of what we’re required to do and what we should avoid. Then we went to ADNEC to assume our posts and roles. At first the organization was running smoothly.

However the following day a lot of issues rose due to the parking payments and their availabilities, security passes which has not been issued for some of the volunteers and missing volunteers due to miscommunications that the volunteers would only work for one shift from two, either morning or evening. Some preferred mornings others had to work in the morning so they preferred evenings. That should create a balance in the shifts, however the people who registered at the evening period came late and some didn’t show up for various excuses. And those who registered in the morning came in late as well.

Part of the exhibition is the young firefighters which are children volunteering to do a dance for the opening show in ISNR and the leader of the team took the responsibility to ensure their safety from the moment they are picked up from the house till they came back late in the evening. And she took it literally by escorting them all the way and staying with them in the rehearsals.

This action caused a lack of supervision that led me to join the leaders of the team because I showed up first thing in the morning and stayed after the evening shift ended; the leader saw my devotion and responsibility plus the ability to manage the team effectively. Then she decided at the last moment of preparation that I will assist her in leading the team during the event.
